Pictures showing the injuries to an Asian man have emerged after he was attacked a few days ago at a BP garage on Herringthorpe Valley Road in Rotherham.

In the attack, the Asian man was said to have lost part of his finger as he was repeatedly punched in the early hours of Saturday morning on the 27th of February 2016. The injury was caused by what was described as a meat cleaver and the victim was attacked by a white male of tall build. He could not provide a description of the second individual involved.

The victim received medical attention in hospital after the attack and was in a stable condition.

Merseyside Police reached out to Tell MAMA following a violent and unprovoked assault on a Muslim woman in the Everton area of Merseyside.

The 38-year-old, who wears the hijab and is of Arab descent, had passed a children’s play area on route to a supermarket at around 8pm on February 11. She noticed two white men stood near to the junction of Ullswater Street.

One of the men shouted racist abuse at her which was anti-migrant in nature. The second man then approached the woman, grabbed her hijab and punched her repeatedly in the face. Both men then left the scene.

The vicious assault left the woman with bruising and swelling to her face. Her fractured cheekbone will require surgery to repair. The attack left the woman feeling dazed, hurt and in shock.

Staff from Tell MAMA continue to offer further support to the woman. Merseyside Police released a public appeal and e-fit of one of the suspects on February 19.

Tell MAMA and Merseyside Police have been working together to support the victim. We are pleased that in a case as serious as this she had the confidence to contact the police.

Although physical attacks such as this are somewhat rare, it is essential that they are reported to the Police or Tell MAMA so that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

In late October 2015, Dr Syeda Jaffri contacted Tell MAMA and made us aware of an assault on her which left us exasperated as to the level of confidence that the perpetrator had, in order to attack a visible Muslim female.

On the 29th of October, in the late evening, Dr Jaffri was with about 25 other Muslim women who were going to support the family member of someone who had died and they were going to convey their condolences., when they were accosted by Aiden Fletcher, who was about to commit an assault.

Dr Jaffri and other women had arrived earlier by car and were looking for the address of the family who had suffered the bereavement and were targeted by Mr Fletcher who aggressively approached them and started to point his finger and make aggressive gestures. At one point, the victim was told to ‘move out of the way‘ even though the perpetrator had blocked her way. What ensued was an assault as the perpetrator head butted Dr Jaffri leading to her having to seek medical attention.

However, the Nottingham Post failed to mention the following fact that Jaffri has mentioned to Tell MAMA. That after the attack, the perpetrator went up and rounded up between 20-25 males who came back to the scene to further intimidate the Muslim women who were simply trying to provide their condolences to the bereaved family.

The white males continued to verbally assault the group of women who then called the police given the nature of the intimidation and the assault on Dr Jaffri.

Tell MAMA were alerted to the case in early October 2015 and worked on ensuring that detailed were recorded and passed to law enforcement. We would like to commend the courage of Dr Jaffri for contacting us, standing up for her rights and for sending a clear message – anti-Muslim hatred is unacceptable and needs to be tackled through the courts where possible.

The Evening Standard has highlighted how a young British born Bangladeshi feared for his life as he suffered a brutal assault in East London. (Details of the attack were initially put up on Facebook by a relative of the victim and they showed a brutal assault on the young man. Facebook later decided to remove all traces of the postings.)

The 26 year old was parked and was waiting in Empson Street in Bow at around 2 pm on Sunday, December the 20th.

As the father of two was parked waiting to pick up his partner and his two young children, he stated that he noticed that a van had slowed down near his vehicle and that the occupants had allegedly made racist remarks at him as they went by. The van went onto park nearby the victim’s vehicle as he continued to wait for his family.

The father of two got out of his vehicle as he saw the individuals park their van and he decided to walk over to the two males who had by now, got out of the van. What ensued, was a brutal assault on the British born Bangladeshi.

The victim stated to the Evening Standard that,

“They called me a Paki and Muslim. Without any communication from me, one of them punched me on my nose and the other had me in a headlock. I thought I was going to pass out.

“I got hit on my leg with a ratchet, which has broken my leg and I’ve had to have an operation on it.

“They stamped on my head and all over me like a football.

“I was then getting kicked and kicked and it lasted for about seven or eight minutes.

“I was in fear of my life.”
