Two Asian males were assaulted in the grounds of the Asda supermarket in the Dalton area of Rotherham yesterday. The attack was particularly violent and Tell MAMA has spoken to one of the victims today as he made his way to the hospital after a brutal assault on the young man as he simply walked out of the Asda store after buying his lunch.

This is a short transcript of some of the details of the assault on the young man of Pakistani heritage:

“I was shopping in Asda around mid-day yesterday with my young brother and we bought some food and some cans of baked beans. I was holding the crate of food and we decided that we needed to get some money out of the cash machine before we left the supermarket. I withdrew the money and took back the crate from my brother and noticed that there was a young white male with two females, parked very close to my car.

As I walked to the my vehicle, I noticed the young white male make statements against another Asian male in the car park who drove off looking rather irritated. I thought nothing of it, though as I got close to my car, I also noticed that there was another white male who came out of the entrance to Asda and who was shouting at me.  He kept saying “what are you laughing at” and got more and more aggressive as he approached me. Whilst doing so, he also put on a glove and I took that to be that he was going to assault me.

I put down the crate in an effort to try and defend myself but the assault on me started and continued with the aggressive white male perpetrator getting me into a headlock. It was then that I noticed that I was being attacked by the second male I had seen next to my vehicle and by this time I had curled up into a ball onto the ground as they continued to assault and kick me.

What followed was then brutal. The perpetrators picked up my cans of food and started to throw them at my head. One of them hit me in the head with significant force and cans were being continuously thrown at me which could have caused me a serious head injury.

I remember threats being made against my younger brother and racially motivated hate speech being voiced by the attackers. They clearly were looking to target someone who was Asian and they found a target in me.

It was only because of the actions of the supermarket security guard that probably saved me from very serious injury as he came to my defence and pushed the attackers apart. Finally, what is also sad is that the females in the vehicle moved the vehicle whilst I was being attacked so that the group could make a get away. They were accomplices in this.”

Another day and another racially aggravated hate crime in the small town of Rotherham. Some within the Asian community say that Rotherham has become ‘the flashpoint’ for race hatred after the grooming scandal. Only time will tell whether things continue to get worse or better.

Having just commented on the serious assault of an Afghan taxi driver  over the weekend, we were notified of another incident involving a Rotherham based taxi driver.

On Sunday morning at around 2:30 am a Rotherham based taxi driver of Pakistani heritage stopped off to drop off a passenger and was in a stationary position when his vehicle was attacked by a large white male who punched and kicked the car. The driver placed the central locking system on and was subjected to racial abuse and with threats to kill.

The driver of the vehicle then drove away from the incident with his passenger still in the vehicle and with the perpetrator now hanging off the roof of the vehicle as he would not let go of the vehicle. After several hundred yards, and after punching the windscreen of the vehicle, it is alleged that the police caught up with the vehicle and took a statement from the perpetrator.

We are in the process of ascertaining further details on the case and we have been in touch with South Yorkshire police on this case.

The charade of Robinson leaving extremism behind has finally slipped as his tweets show an increasingly erratic and confused individual who plays up to conspiracy theorists and far right bigots. His attempt at going ‘mainstream’ has failed with only a handful of journalists still touting for his opinions when they have nothing else to fill their journals with.

However, Robinson’s actions have placed a Rotherham resident of Pakistani heritage at real risk. This tweet (below), which Robinson sent out a few days ago is false and makes an allegation that two individuals around the Member of Parliament for Rotherham, are paedophiles. Such actions can put the lives of these two individuals at risk and Robinson should be held to account for this.

One of the individuals has worked with Tell MAMA to place a civil claim against a branch of UKIP and this is ongoing. They initially tweeted out a virtually identical tweet and our advice to him is to pursue a civil claim against Robinson for the dissemination of this material.

Robinson claims to act for against ‘Islamic extremism.’ His tweets show a different stance and one which panders to anti-Muslim bigots. No doubt, Robinson may well be hearing from the solicitor of the individual that he has libelled.

Reports have come in of an assault on a 16-year-old boy in Rotherham. The town has become a flashpoint where far right organisations have been agitating after the recent Rotherham grooming scandal.

The assault took place today around 1:10 pm and the young boy suffered head injuries.

We have repeatedly raised the fact that community relations in Rotherham are deteriorating and more recently, we reported on the killing of Mushin Ahmed in the town. Today, we have heard that a young boy on Rotherham was assaulted and suffered a head injury. South Yorkshire police have detained a 32-year-old male who was arrested nearby the scene and individuals who reported into us, stated that racially aggravated terms were used in the assault though this has yet to be confirmed with the police.

Witnesses also mentioned that tensions were heightened since it is alleged that it took about an hour and half for an ambulance to attend the scene.

This assault comes on the back of the recent demonstration by Britain First in Rotherham. No doubt the latest incident will further heighten tensions in this town that has been in the media limelight for over 2 years.
