Become an E-Activist Youth Ambassador With Us

E-activist youth training against hate crimesFaith Matters is looking to provide 25 young people aged 18-30 with free access to an E-Activism and Combating Xenophobia course. The course will provide face to face training and support for 24 hours per young person and will provide participants with a greater insight into hate crime work and some of the issues affecting this area of work such as the growth in social media participation on-line. We are keen in supporting the learning and development of 25 young people so that they can become E-activist Youth Ambassadors against hate, intolerance and xenophobia.

We are looking to hold the sessions in London and the first sessions will start in mid-September 2014. The course will cover the following areas:

  • Racism, xenophobia and religious hatred in the UK,
  • Critical examinations of xenophobia and hatred,
  • Hatred on-line: White nationalists, counter-Jihadists and the Twitter age,
  • On-line hatred and the law,
  • Social media providers and on-line reporting mechanisms,
  • The police and on-line hate crime,
  • The Court and the victim – how to protect victim’s rights,
  • Is the law even the right tool for the job?
  • On-line activism, looking inwards,
  • On-line activism, looking outwards,
  • The future of on-line hate crime work.
The course will be free and reasonable travel costs will be met. Lunch will also be provided to all participants.
